Students develop greater&nbsp;proficiency&nbsp;to&nbsp;initiate&nbsp;and sustain conversations,&nbsp;express&nbsp;and justify opinions on social issues, and discuss youth interests and values across cultures. They also evaluate perspectives, reflect on their language learning, and explore the interrelationship between language and culture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students will study topics such as:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Daily routines\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Festivals\u00a0for example\u00a0San Fermin\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food &amp; cooking\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media and films\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental issues\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Past tense\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<br><strong>Assessment<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Year&nbsp;9&nbsp;Students are assessed according to the&nbsp;Spanish&nbsp;Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting.
