Practical work is a strong feature of this course and students will develop a folio of work related to garment construction and fabric design. Students will explore ethical fabric printing methods such as natural dyes and compare the outcomes to commercial packet dyes. Using their individualised fabrics students will produce a range of accessories such as hats and bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A focus on sustainable fashion and entrepreneurial thinking in the textiles industry will underpin the theory components of the learning, including research and reflective tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students may be required to co-contribute towards the purchase of project materials, dependent on their personal design and choice of materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br>Assessment types include a sequence of practical Skills Tasks, written research Tasks, and a Major Design Project that is documented through a multimodal Design Folio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student achievement is assessed according to the Design &amp; Technology Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assessment types include practical and group activities and written assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Leads To<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=194\">Year 10 Fashion &amp; Textiles<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Length:\u00a0Single SemesterContact:\u00a0Technologies Leader Course DescriptionStudents will develop skills in working with fabric textiles such as dying, painting, embellishing and constructing garments and fabric.
