Course Description<\/strong> 
In Politics, Power and People, students will explore and debate the evolving political world, both in Australia and internationally, with a focus on the use of politics to solve local and global challenges. The subject provides the opportunity to consider such challenges through an understanding of civic participation, power, influence and authority. Students will also consider the nature their role in contributing to democracy, with an investigation of the strengths and weaknesses of Australia\u2019s electoral system.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will study 1 core topic and one of the additional options:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core topic<\/strong>: Understanding how politics works <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Topics:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Religion and politics: allies or foes\u00a0
Australian media: entertainer or informer\u00a0
Breaking barriers for women in politics: the struggle for visibility and voice\u00a0
Migration and membership: the politics of its meaning\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 
Assessment<\/strong> 
Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
