{"id":184,"date":"2022-10-05T01:10:09","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T14:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=184"},"modified":"2023-08-07T09:58:59","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T00:28:59","slug":"year-10-cad-cam","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=184","title":{"rendered":"Year 10 &#8211; Engineering and Drafting (CAD)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Length:<\/strong> Single Semester<br><strong>Contact:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=500\">Technologies Leader<\/a><br><br><strong>Recommended Background<br><\/strong><br>No prerequisites.<br><br><strong>Course Description<br><\/strong><br>By the end of Year 10, students will be able to create a design solution based on a student design brief \/challenge.<br><br>This CAD\/CAM course provides the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a design solution based on a student design brief \/ challenge.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop understanding of technical drawing practices used in the construction and manufacturing sectors such as drafting, modelling and 3D prototyping.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop understanding of techniques and methods that reflect the Australian Standards.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn about 2 and 3 dimensional drawing systems and gain experience in the use of CAD software AutoCAD and Inventor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will learn to use the design process to develop a solution to a given problem, producing a work plan and sketch prior to modelling. They will develop skills in evaluating final products against the given design brief and identification of possible modifications.<br><br>Where possible students will be given the opportunity to design and produce a small item using one or more of the following CAD\/CAM computer-controlled machines: milling machine, laser cutting machine and\/or 3D printer.<br><br><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br><br>Student performance will be determined according to the Technologies Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades from A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<br>Assessment types will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Process and Production Skills\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Major Design Project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design Folio: Investigating, Planning, Producing, Evaluating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skills exercises.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge and Understanding\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Written Assignments (Research and analysis): Technology and its impacts on society, environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theory Tests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Basic project materials are supplied, however students may be required to pay additional costs if their projects exceed the allocated amount.<br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=301\">Stage 1 &#8211; Engineering and Drafting (CAD)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Length: Single SemesterContact: Technologies Leader Recommended BackgroundNo prerequisites.
