Experience and knowledge of electronics and soldering is an advantage.<br><br><strong>Course Description<\/strong><br><br>This course will focus on Electrical theory, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Common electronic components<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schematic symbols and diagrams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electronic soldering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proto-typing and modifying circuits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CAD schematics are drawn and used<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Circuit boards are designed and manufactured using CAD \/ CAM milling technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Circuit testing and evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Where possible students may be given the opportunity to integrate the use of one or more of the following CAD \/ CAM, computer controlled machines into their design: laser cutting machine and \/ or 3D printer.<br><br>By the end of Year 10, students will be able to create a design solution based on a student design brief \/ challenge.<br><br><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br>Student performance will be determined according to the Technologies Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades from A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<br><br>Assessment types will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Process and Production Skills (70%)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Major design project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design Document: Investigating, Planning, Producing and Evaluating (Python HTML and Vex Robots)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skills Exercises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge and Understanding (30 %)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Written Assignments (Research and analysis): Technology \u2013 Impacts on society and environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theory tests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Note<\/strong>: Basic project materials are supplied, however students may be required to pay additional costs if their projects exceed the allocated amount.<br><br><strong>Leads To<br><\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=305\">Stage 1 Electronics (Robotic and Electronic Systems)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Length: Single SemesterContact: Technologies Leader Recommended Background No prerequisites.
