{"id":198,"date":"2022-10-05T01:41:34","date_gmt":"2022-10-05T01:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=198"},"modified":"2022-11-08T12:06:46","modified_gmt":"2022-11-08T01:36:46","slug":"year-10-metal-technology","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=198","title":{"rendered":"Year 10 &#8211; Metal Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Length:<\/strong> Single Semester<br><strong>Contact:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=500\">Technologies Leader<\/a><br><br><strong>Recommended Background<\/strong><br><br>No prerequisites.<br><br><strong>Course Description<br><\/strong><br>In this course students will learn skills and gain knowledge in the area of Metal Fabrication and Machining.<br><br>Through a series of set projects students will learn:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To use metal lathes for processes such as drilling, parallel turning, taper turning and facing.<\/li><li>To use Oxy Acetylene welding equipment for Braze and Fusion welding.<\/li><li>The basics of electric welding using the GMA (MIG) process.<\/li><li>To use a variety of hand tools to fit and assemble components of the projects.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students will learn to follow the design process to develop a solution to a given problem. A work plan and drawings are produced prior to manufacture. The final product is evaluated against the given design brief and possible modifications discussed.<br><br>By the end of Year 10, students will be able to create a design solution based on a student design brief \/ challenge.<br><br><strong>Assessment<br><\/strong><br>Year 10 Students are assessed according to The Arts Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting.<br><br>Assessment types will include:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Process and Production Skills:<ul><li>Skills Exercises<\/li><li>Major Design Project<\/li><li>Design Folio: Investigating, Planning, Producing, Evaluating.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Knowledge and Understanding:<ul><li>Written Assignments: Research and analysis: The impact of technology on individuals, society and environment<\/li><li>Theory Tests.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note: Basic project materials are supplied, however students may be required to pay additional costs if their projects exceed the allocated amount.<br><br><strong>Leads To<br><\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=309\">Stage 1 Metal Technology<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Length: Single SemesterContact: Technologies Leader Recommended Background No prerequisites.
