They will follow the design process, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Writing a Design Brief<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigating and sketching possible designs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Producing a working drawing (orthographic)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluating the final design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Costing the final design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating a procedure for the steps involved in the construction of their design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where possible, students will be given the opportunity to integrate the use of laser etching into their designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end of Year 10, students will be able to create a design solution based on a student design brief\/challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Students may be required to co-contribute towards the purchase of project materials, dependent on their personal design and choice of materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br>Assessment types include a sequence of practical Skills Tasks, written research Tasks, and a Major Design Project that is documented through a multimodal Design Folio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student achievement is assessed according to the Design &amp; Technology Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Basic project materials are supplied, however students may be required to pay additional costs if their projects exceed the allocated amount.<br><br><strong>Leads To<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=307\">Stage 1 Furniture Design<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Length:\u00a0Single SemesterContact:\u00a0Technologies\u00a0Leader Recommended BackgroundNo prerequisites.
