Those with no experience will be guided through the basics.<br><br><strong>Course Description<br><\/strong><br>Stage 2 Food Design (Industry and Entrepreneurial Solutions) is a new and innovative course to replace Stage 2 Food and Hospitality. Students will be designing a caf\u00e9 or restaurant that is entrepreneurial in thinking and meets industry standards. Students will design the type of caf\u00e9 or restaurant they focus on as it will be the foundation for their folio of work over the length of the course.<br><br>Students will develop and demonstrate skills in designing and producing menu items for their caf\u00e9 or restaurant based around their design brief. The course allows students to have a choice in the food they produce and by the end of the course they will have designed and served a range of starters, main courses and desserts. Students will demonstrate their culinary skills through various skills tasks and document their learning and design thinking in their folio of work.<br><br><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br><br>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.<br><br><strong>School Based Assessment:<\/strong><br><br>Two Specialist Skills Tasks (20%): Students must show evidence of these tasks and evaluate them. (Up to 1000 words or 6 minutes in multi modal form)<br><br>Design Process (Folio) and Solution (50%): This may be a major design project or a series of up to 3 smaller design tasks. Students must show evidence of the design process and showcase and evaluate their project. (Up to 2000 words or 12 minutes in multi modal or combination).<br><br><strong>External Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Resource Study (30%). The Resource Study is comprised of the following 2 parts:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Part One: Resource Investigation<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Part Two: Issue Exploration. The Resource study should be presented in written or multi modal form or a combination of both.
