The subject enables students to explore the diversity of life, investigate how living systems function and interact, and examine how biological knowledge is applied in society.&nbsp;The course prepares students for further study or careers in health, biotechnology, environmental science, and other science-related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stage 2 Biology topics provide the framework for developing integrated programs of learning through which students extend their skills, knowledge, and understanding of the three strands of science.<br><br>The three strands of science to be integrated throughout student learning are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Science inquiry skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science as a human endeavour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science understanding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Stage 2 Biology students study the following topics:<br><br>Topic 1: DNA and Proteins<br>Topic 2: Cells as the Basis of Life<br>Topic 3: Homeostasis<br>Topic 4: Evolution<br><br><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br><br>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board.
