{"id":454,"date":"2022-10-07T11:42:49","date_gmt":"2022-10-07T01:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=454"},"modified":"2022-11-08T12:36:14","modified_gmt":"2022-11-08T02:06:14","slug":"year-12-physics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=454","title":{"rendered":"Year 12 &#8211; Physics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Length:<\/strong> Full Year (20 SACE credits)<br><strong>Contact:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=500\">Science<a href=\"https:\/\/curric.theheights.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=500\"> Leader<\/a><\/a><br><br><strong>Recommended Background<br><\/strong><br>Grade B or higher in Stage 1 Physics A and B.<br><br><strong>Course Description<br><\/strong><br>Stage 2 Physics topics provide the framework for developing integrated programs of learning through which students extend their skills, knowledge, and understanding of the three strands of science.<br><br>The three strands of science to be integrated throughout student learning are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Science inquiry skills<\/li><li>Science as a human endeavour<\/li><li>Science understanding.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Stage 2 Physics students study the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Topic 1<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Motion and Relativity:<\/strong> Projectile Motion, Forces and Momentum, Circular Motion and Gravitation, Relativity.<br><br><\/li><li><strong>Topic 2 &#8211; Electricity and Magnetism:<\/strong> Electric Fields, Motion of Charged Particles in Electric Fields, Magnetic Fields, Motion of Charged Particles in Magnetic Fields, Electromagnetic Induction.<br><br><\/li><li><strong>Topic 3<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Light and Atoms:<\/strong> Wave Behaviour of Light, Wave-Particle Duality, Structure of the Atom, Standard Model.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br><br>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board.
