Those with no experience will be supported through the basics.<br><br><strong>Course Description<\/strong><br>In Stage 2 Furniture Design students learn basic cabinet making skills before designing and constructing their own piece, or pieces of furniture. Students will need to produce a comprehensive folio documenting the design process of their furniture. Their folio includes investigations, sketches, technical drawings, costing and evaluation. Students will learn how to operate a range of woodworking machines and hand tools, including OHS requirements.<br><br><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Students may be required to co-contribute towards the purchase of project materials, dependent on their personal design and choice of materials.<br><br><strong>Assessment<\/strong><br>Student achievement is assessed against the relevant Performance Standards outlined for the Design, Technology &amp; Engineering SACE subject, with A+ to E- Grades used for reporting purposes.<br><br><strong>School-based Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two Specialised Skills Tasks (20%): Students show evidence of and evaluate a series of practical skill development tasks. (Consists of 1200 words written or equivalent in multimodal form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design Process (Folio) and Solution (50%): This may be a major design product or a series of up to 3 smaller design tasks. Students must show evidence of the design process in which they showcase and evaluate their product. (Consists of 3000 words written or equivalent in multimodal form).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>External Assessment:<\/strong><br>Resource Study (30%): Comprises of the following 2 parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Part One: Resource Investigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Part Two: Issue Study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Resource Study consists of 2000 words written or equivalent presented in multimodal form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Material Solutions] Length: Full Year (20 SACE credits)Contact: Technologies Leader Recommended BackgroundNo prerequisites.
