Year 7 – Health and Physical Education

Course Description

Year 7 students study Health and Physical Education for the full year. Student learning is focused in two main areas: Personal, Social and Community Health, and Movement and Physical Activity.

Learning topics covered in Year 7 include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Group Dynamics
  • Respect and Empathy
  • Sport Education- Invasion Sport
  • Introduction to Food and Nutrition
  • Rhythmic and Expressive Movement
  • Staying Safe- Drugs and Alcohol
  • Relationships and Sexual Health
  • Striking and Fielding Sports

Assessment

Year 7 Students are assessed according to the HPE Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting. Assessment is based on a variety of tasks completed in class time and for homework. Assessments in Movement and Physical Activity-based topics will be from an assessment task, where active participation in lessons will contribute to being able to successfully complete these tasks.
