Course Description 
Stage 1 SACE Business Innovation at The Heights School offers students an engaging introduction to entrepreneurial thinking and business principles through a hands-on, real-world framework. In this course, students develop essential business skills by analysing case studies and designing innovative business models, before applying their knowledge in the Impact Boss program. Impact Boss enables students to take their ideas from concept to pitch, presenting to stakeholders and evaluating feedback as part of a dynamic portfolio. This integrated approach empowers students to cultivate creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and enterprise skills relevant to today’s rapidly evolving business landscape. 

Students will study one or two of the following contexts: 

  • start-up business 
  • existing business. 

Assessment 
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.

Assessment Type 1: Business Skills 

  • Task 1 – Case Study of an existing business 
  • Task 2 – Proposal (Business Model)   

Assessment Type 2: Business Pitch (Impact Boss) 

  • Portfolio to Pitch (to stakeholders)
