Successful completion of Stage 1 Spanish is essential for success.

Course Description

This Stage 2 Spanish (continuers) course builds on the foundations established in Stage 1 Spanish and aims to extend and develop students’ reading, listening, speaking and writing abilities in Spanish. As well as their understanding of the diverse cultures of the Spanish speaking world.

Students continue to develop skills in understanding and communicating, developing greater spoken and written proficiency.  They will use written and spoken Spanish to initiate and sustain conversations and to create texts in a range of settings and for a range of purposes. They will also explore a range of Spanish language texts analysing and reflecting upon how language is used in texts and how cultural values are reflected in texts. Students will deepen their understanding about the culture of Spanish speaking countries, and they will explore ways in which language and culture are interrelated and influence each other.

Please note: Students are required to bring headphones, or a headset, to complete listening tasks in their language classroom.

Assessment
Year 11 Spanish Students are assessed according to the Stage 2 SACE Languages (Continuers) Assessment Criteria. Assessment contains school-based assessment including a Folio (50%) and an In- Depth Study (20%) as well as an externally assessed oral and written examination (30%).
