Course Description
Year 7 students study Health and Physical Education for the full year. Student learning is focused in two main areas: Personal, Social and Community Health, and Movement and Physical Activity.
Learning topics covered in Year 7 include, but are not limited to the following:
- Group Dynamics
- Respect and Empathy
- Sport Education- Invasion Sport
- Introduction to Food and Nutrition
- Rhythmic and Expressive Movement
- Staying Safe- Drugs and Alcohol
- Relationships and Sexual Health
- Striking and Fielding Sports
Assessment
Year 7 Students are assessed according to the HPE Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting. Assessment is based on a variety of tasks completed in class time and for homework. Assessments in Movement and Physical Activity-based topics will be from an assessment task, where active participation in lessons will contribute to being able to successfully complete these tasks.
