Course Description 
Year 7 Mathematics is designed to help students strengthen their basic mathematical techniques and build a solid foundation for future learning. Aligned with version 9 Australian Curriculum, this course focuses on essential mathematical concepts, ensuring students develop confidence and understanding. As these foundational skills are consolidated, students are gradually introduced to more complex procedures, preparing them for continued success in mathematics. 

In the Year 7 Mathematics course students will work independently and collaboratively to develop mathematical skills and understandings in the topics: 

• Number 
• Algebra 
• Measurement 
• Space 
• Statistics 
• Probability 

Learning in each of these topics is designed to support and challenge students to develop strength in the mathematical proficiencies of understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning. 

Subject Requirement 
All students must purchase a Scientific Calculator to support their engagement with this course. 

Years 7-12 Calculator Requirements 

Assessment 
Year 7 Students are assessed according to the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards, with A-E grades used for reporting. 

Assessment types include tests, skills and applications tasks and investigations.
