Recommended Background
No prerequisites.
Completion of Year 10 Metal Technology is an advantage but not essential. Those with no experience will be supported through the basics.
Course Description
Students will learn skills and gain knowledge in areas of Metal Fabrication and engineering using Oxy-Acetylene and Electric welding processes. Metal Machining will be developed through using the Lathe and Mill. A variety of hand tools and equipment will be used to shape, fit and assemble components of the set projects.
Note: Students may be required to co-contribute towards the purchase of project materials, dependent on their personal design and choice of materials.
Assessment
Student achievement is assessed against the relevant Performance Standards outlined for the Design, Technology & Engineering SACE subject, with A-E Grades used for reporting purposes.
Assessment Types consist of:
- 2x Specialised Skills Tasks, with a written evaluation.
- 1x Design Process and Solution, documented through a Multimodal Design Folio.
