Year 10 – Electronic Engineering

Recommended Background
No prerequisites.

An interest in circuitry and experience with soldering would be beneficial.

Course Description
This course will focus on Electrical theory, understanding and practical skills, including:

  • Intermediate electronic components
  • Schematic symbols and diagrams
  • Electronic soldering
  • Switching, fusing, wire sizing.
  • Understanding and recreating common households’ circuits within DC conditions

By the end of Year 10, students will be able to create a design solution based on a student design brief / challenge.

Note: Students may be required to co-contribute towards the purchase of project materials, dependent on their personal design and choice of materials.

Assessment
Assessment types include a sequence of practical Skills Tasks, written research Tasks, a Practical Test, and a Major Design Project that is documented through a multimodal Design Folio.

Student achievement is assessed according to the Design & Technology Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting.
