Successful completion of Year 7 & 8 Spanish is essential. 

Course Description 
This Year 9 Spanish course builds on Years 7–8, extending students’ reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills while deepening their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. Students develop greater proficiency to initiate and sustain conversations, express and justify opinions on social issues, and discuss youth interests and values across cultures. They also evaluate perspectives, reflect on their language learning, and explore the interrelationship between language and culture. 

Students will study topics such as: 

  • Daily routines  
  • Festivals for example San Fermin 
  • Food & cooking 
  • Media and films 
  • Environmental issues 
  • Past tense 

 
Assessment 
Year 9 Students are assessed according to the Spanish Achievement Standards outlined in the Australian Curriculum, with A-E Grades used for reporting. Assessment contains aspects of intercultural literacy; text creation; text analysis; grammar concepts; conversation and cultural investigation.
