Course Description
This SACE Stage 1 Spanish course builds on the foundations established in Years 7 to 9 and aims to extend and develop students’ reading, listening, speaking and writing abilities in Spanish. As well as their understanding of the diverse cultures of the Spanish speaking world.
Students continue to develop skills in understanding and communicating, developing greater spoken and written proficiency. They will use written and spoken Spanish to initiate and sustain conversations and to create texts in a range of settings and for a range of purposes. They will also explore a range of Spanish language texts analysing and reflecting upon how language is used in texts and how cultural values are reflected in texts. Students will deepen their understanding about the culture of Spanish speaking countries, and they will explore ways in which language and culture are interrelated and influence each other.
Students will study the following SACE themes:
- The Individual
- The Spanish-speaking Communities
- The Changing World.
Assessment
Students in this stream are assessed according to the Stage 1 SACE Spanish (Continuers)
Assessment Criteria. Assessment includes Investigation, Text Analysis, Text Production and Interaction. Students will gain a total of 20 SACE credits for successful completion of semester 1 and 2.
